Join your AFN Colleagues at Boot Camp this fall!  Build your knowledge base, and enhance your forensic nursing response with improved photo-documentation of forensic cases using proper forensic photography principals and procedures.  Additionally, listen to the experts discuss forensic photography and photo-documentation protocols. 

This fast-paced boot camp workshop invites participants to bring their organization’s procedures and protocols for discussion.

This conference workshop focuses on basic forensic photography skills needed for the documentation of bodily injuries for victims of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child physical and sexual abuse, and elder abuse. It is designed to increase basic photography skills, knowledge and competence for healthcare professionals, specifically forensic nurses who have completed Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Training, Pediatric Sexual Abuse Forensic Examiner Training, and/or Domestic Violence/Strangulation Training.

This Web Series will launch on November 5, 2020 and features four interactive web sessions through November 17, 2020 (see dates and session descriptions below).  Unable to attend one of the live sessions?  Registrants will be able to access recorded sessions at their convenience through January 31, 2020.

CONFERENCE SESSION OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this program the learner will be able to:

  • Discuss the history of photography and rationale for photo-documentation in healthcare specialties.
  • Describe the use of standardized photography protocols for best practice forensic photo-documentation.
  • Verbalize a working knowledge of the equipment used to achieve a quality image.
  • Describe the use of measuring devises, filters and adjuncts that assist photo-documentation.
  • Demonstrate the Rule of Thirds.
  • Explain the difference between a RAW file and a JPEG file.
  • List the criteria of a quality forensic photograph.
  • Critique case studies, using a trauma informed lens and photo-documentation protocols.

DIANA FAUGNO

Diana Faugno graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing-University of North Dakota and a Master of Science in Nursing University of Phoenix. Ms. Faugno is a Founding Board Director for End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) and the Academy of Forensic Nursing. She is the past president of the Academy of Forensic Nurses as well as a retired-fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Science and a Distinguished Fellow in the International Association of Forensic Nurses and the Academy of Forensic Nursing.

She currently is the nurse examiner at Life Safe resources in Marietta Georgia. She is the co-author on numerous textbooks and papers on dealing with the forensic medical aspects of violence. She provides training on forensic topics throughout the country helping teams who deal with sexual assault or domestic violence.
