Candidate For:
Natalie Rose Vanderhoof
BSN, RN, EMT-P, SANE-A

I am a native Floridian who is part mermaid, at least I have the heart of a mermaid. I live in the central part of the State, where natural springs and wildlife are the highlight. I have been married for 22 years to my husband, Evan, and I have the cutest beagle ever, named Crumpet.
I started training as an Emergency Medical Technician directly out of high school at just seventeen years old! After graduating, I got a job on an ambulance doing interfacility transport while I continued in school. I finished Paramedic school by the time I turned twenty and then went on to firefighting. I worked as a Firefighter Paramedic for four years before I left to become a Field Training Officer for a rural ambulance service. While working on the ambulance, I became a Paramedic Instructor at the local technical college. I taught both didactic and practical training.
I started working as a Paramedic in the Emergency Department and went back to school. I enrolled in the Paramedic to Registered Nurse program at a local community college. After graduating, I continued to work in the Emergency Department. Over the years, I worked in ED, ICU, Cath Staging, Occupational Health and Employee Health.
After several years, I left the hospital to do consulting work for companies that were starting clinics. I was able to help design clinics, purchase the necessary medical equipment, write policies, and onboard clinic staff.
Eventually, I returned to working in the Emergency Room. During COVID-19 I worked as the charge nurse in the ED while serving as relief charge for the Forensics Department. When the position became available, I took the leadership role in the Forensics Department.
In fall 2024 I left the hospital and started a consulting business for Forensic Nursing. I have also opened a medical clinic that offers services to victims. In the last year I have had the privilege of serving as an Expert Witness for multiple domestic violence with strangulation cases. In spring 2025 I founded a nonprofit organization called Victim Response Training, Inc. which has the purpose of providing collaborative education to those who interact with victims during the entire continuum of care.
Goal Statement
As a prospective member of the AFN Board of Directors, my goal is to meaningfully contribute to the professional development of Forensic Nurses through effective oversight, strategic planning, and promoting inclusion.
