INTERPROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION COMMITTEE

The Academy of Forensic Nursing is requesting the development and submission of position statements from members.  Currently the review and publication of position statements is delegated by the Board of Directors to the Interprofessional Collaboration Committee (IPC).

One of the working goals of the IPC is to facilitate the identification & development of evidence-based position statements that support forensic nursing practice. Position statements are authoritative documents published by a professional organization that guide the profession and specialty practice, amplify the views of nursing and can serve to educate consumers, policy makers and decision makers in a variety of agencies and organizations.

Some of the position statements that the IPC is reviewing include, Evidence Based Forensic Nursing Education, Evidence Based Forensic Nursing Practice and Trauma Informed Care.  Members of the AFN are welcomed to connect with IPC representatives to discuss ideas and content for additional position statements that can have impact on forensic nursing practices.

In support of AFN members who are interested in developing current, evidence-based position statements the following documents are presented to assist you:

Additional position statements are being developed and the IPC is currently requesting topics for position statement development to be submitted by members. The AFN & the IPC believe that current, practice informing position statements need to be developed with the expertise of the professionals who compose the organization.
