In late December, U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) helped secure $500,000 for the University of Alaska Anchorage to implement a forensic training program for healthcare providers and advocates.

The funding was a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) allocation that was part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2023, a year-end omnibus that passed the U.S. Senate and was signed into law on December 29, 2022.
