Hello Academy Members and Friends of AFN!

Happy New Year! I am excited to serve as your AFN President and guide the work of the Academy through 2024. Thank you to Dr. Jennifer Johnson for your excellent leadership over the past two years, and welcome Dr. Paul Clements as our President-Elect.

Six years ago, when we embarked on this journey as a small cadre of Forensic Nurse experts, we had a vision: to serve and support nurses and professionals caring for forensic patients. We have stayed true to our mission of scholarship, education, and service and have been excellent stewards of our resources while growing this organization to almost 1,300 members internationally! I have never been more proud to serve on your Board of Directors who represent clinical, research, and academic excellence. We grew even stronger during the COVID years, engaging professionals with weekly webinars and conferences. I invite you to join us as we forge new opportunities for growth, welcome new partners who support our mission, and remain your voice in where we go as the Academy of Forensic Nursing. 

Thank you, and I look forward to meeting many of you in our webinars, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), committees, and at our regional, national, and international conferences in 2024. Consider exploring opportunities to take an active role in growing your Academy. Expect great things – we are listening to you!
