Goal Statement
My goal as an AFN Board member is to serve our community by bridging forensic scholarship and practice through education, mentorship, and fiscal stewardship.
Leveraging my background in pediatric trauma, critical care, and youth health leadership, I aim to expand accessible learning resources on digital trauma and child maltreatment, establish supportive pathways for emerging nurse scholars, and address health disparities in vulnerable populations.
By championing data-driven violence prevention and trauma-informed care, I will honor AFN’s pillars to elevate clinical practice, support our members, and compassionately uplift trauma survivors.
Biography
Sheree V. Cornstubble, MSN, RN, is a Clinical Faculty member at Texas A&M University College of Nursing, a forensic nurse scholar, and an educator with nearly two decades of clinical, research, and academic leadership. Dedicated to advancing trauma-informed care and bridging evidence-based research to practice, her expertise spans Level I pediatric trauma emergency care, neonatal and adult critical care, district pediatric health leadership, and CTE health science curriculum architecture.
Sheree earned her Master of Science in Nursing in Forensic Nursing from Texas A&M University, where she served as a Nursing Ambassador, Student Advisory Council representative, and College of Nursing Research Committee member. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor and her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing at Austin Community College as a St. David’s Healthcare Academic Partnership Scholar.
Her clinical foundation includes over a decade in high-acuity pediatric emergency and trauma care at Seton/Ascension and St. David’s Healthcare, where she served as Charge Nurse for a 52-bed Level I Pediatric Trauma Emergency Department, disaster response team member, and preceptor. She subsequently spent eight years directing district-wide pediatric health services across Central Texas school districts, managing complex pediatric conditions, leading emergency preparedness programs, and coordinating public health mitigation.
Currently, as Clinical Faculty/Instructor at Texas A&M University, Sheree delivers clinical instruction in critical care, emergency medicine, medical-surgical, pediatrics, and community health nursing. In secondary education, she engineered and pioneered the Health Sciences and Forensic Science CTE pathways at Legacy Ranch High School from the ground up, directing instruction in Forensic Psychology, Forensic Science, Anatomy & Physiology, Health Science Theory, Principles of Health Science, and Medical Terminology while serving as Chapter Advisor for Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).
Sheree is an active forensic researcher collaborating with Boston College and Texas A&M University. Her research agenda examines child abuse, pediatric non-fatal strangulation, digital violence, intimate partner violence, jurisdictional fragmentation in Indigenous communities, and AI/machine learning applications in forensic nursing. She is a peer-reviewed author with publications in the American Journal of Nursing (April 2026) and the Journal of Forensic Nursing (2026), a book chapter contributor on Indigenous jurisdictional challenges (IntechOpen, 2026), and a poster presenter at the Eastern Nursing Research Society.
An active contributor to professional governance, Sheree serves on the Financial Oversight Committee, on the Violence & Behavior Special Interest Group for the Academy of Forensic Nursing (AFN), and will serve on the new Research Committee, as well as a Peer Reviewer for both the Journal of Forensic Nursing (JFN) and the Journal of the Academy of Forensic Nursing (JAFN). She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Southern Nursing Research Society, and the Emergency Nurses Association. If elected to the AFN Board of Directors for the 2027–2028 term, Sheree will bring operational insight, fiscal diligence, and a servant-hearted dedication to expand AFN’s educational reach, mentor emerging leaders, and champion evidence-based care for trauma survivors.
