Goal Statement
If reelected as Secretary of the AFN, I will continue to advance the profession of forensic nursing by highlighting the various roles forensic nurses can serve in, using forensic expertise to care for all individuals, including those affected by violence. Additionally, I will promote a welcoming environment that supports nurses entering the profession and helps maintain longevity in this challenging role. I will continue to use my background, knowledge, and expertise to serve the AFN by supporting its mission to link research to practice through scholarship, education, and service.
Biography
Natalie K. Evenson, MSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, IVSE-C, is a forensic nurse from Washington State. She has over 20 years of experience as a forensic nurse, serving adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients. She is currently a contractor for the Puyallup Children of the River Child Advocacy Center. Natalie previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of Washington, giving her unique insight into issues surrounding victims and offenders, as well as navigating the related social systems. She also serves as Secretary of the Academy of Forensic Nursing (AFN), is Chair of the AFN Education Committee, and Chair of the AFN Mentorship Special Interest Group. Natalie works as an expert witness and is the co-owner of Kitsap Forensic Nurses. Natalie is passionate about serving individuals and communities affected by violence and educating community partners.
