This is accomplished byencouraging and supporting nurse-driven research, utilizing existing forensic and legal research tointegrate Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and establishing forensic nursing implications and educationthat will result in enhanced patient outcomes, patient and forensic nurse satisfaction, and safe andeffective high-quality forensic nursing care. While this can be a formidable task for many clinical nurses,the AFN JC serves to review research studies and discuss their implications on evidence-based clinicalpractice. Goals:1. Improve the critical literature review skills of forensic nurses from all disciplines2. Stimulate ideas and best practices that can be used to develop AFN Position Statements3. Improve clinical practice of the forensic nurse caring for patients at the bedside4. Generate suggestions for future forensic nursing research Attendee Expectations: The AFN JC will foster a spirit of inquiry while supporting and educating forensicnurses from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. The JC is an open forum for discussing forensicnursing issues in a friendly and professional environment. The attendees will read the articles andanswer the questions on the critique prior to the JC so that all will come together prepared to discusscontent and its application.
