Her recently published book is Interpersonal Aggression: Complexities of Domestic and Intimate Partner Abuse. She is also a certified national expert witness on strangulation prevention. Peterson was appointed to the Los Angeles Mayor’s Domestic Violence Steering Committee, as well as a consultant of a joint domestic violence project between Tel Aviv, Israel, and Los Angeles. Dr. Peterson has done training for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (part of Homeland Security) where they train rural law enforcement officers and domestic violence advocates to be trainers in their own communities. She also does training for domestic violence shelter staff, corporate America, and non-profit organizations. She has also consulted with the U.S. Attorney General’s office, the California Attorney General’s office, and the Los City Attorney’s office on cases and has done case reviews. Additionally, Dr. Peterson is a team advisor/trainer for the statewide Domestic Violence Medical Training Team, developing a curriculum to teach medical personnel to recognize and treat survivors of domestic violence.
