Cathy (CJ) Carter-Snell, PhD, RN, SANE-A, DF-AFN, has specialized in sexual assault and intimate partner violence issues since 1998 and has many years of prior trauma nursing experience. She has been a co-investigator and educator for numerous projects involving both men and women. Recent projects include male perspectives of intimate partner violence and issues related to the risk of perpetrating sexual violence on campus. Men often receive less preparation than women in consent and assault prevention, and they can be equally traumatized or even more so. Without adequate understanding, men may also be at risk of perpetrating sexual violence. Carter-Snell brings findings from current research and practice in this area and poses questions for forensic nurses about priorities for prevention.
