Over her 28-year forensic nursing career, she has cared for thousands of patients across the lifespan who were affected by violence. Charles is deeply committed to ensuring every patient receives compassionate, trauma-informed, and person-centered care following sexual assault, abuse, or violence. She is the principal investigator on several federal and state grants and contracts, including the innovative Brazos Valley Forensic Interview Program, known as BVFIP. Outside of work, Charles loves a good metal concert and can routinely be found jamming out to her headbanging music.
