Barbara Bachmeier

Barbra Bachmeier is a nurse practitioner and advanced practice forensic nurse at IU Health – Methodist Hospital and a solo attorney practicing in the area of Guardianships in Indianapolis. She has a legal-nurse consulting business in the area of interpersonal violence and nursing practice issues for both civil and criminal attorneys.
Bachmeier's nursing career began in 1982 as a licensed practical nurse, and she has worked in many areas including critical care and emergency nursing as a registered nurse, and as an advanced practice provider and forensic nurse. Bachmeier completed a clinical medical ethics fellowship in 2013 at Charles W. Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics at Indiana University Health. She received a certificate in Public Health through the Richard M. Fairbanks school of public health from Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis in May 2021 and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Health with concentration in Social and Behavioral Sciences. In 2015, she received the National ENA Nursing Practice and Professionalism Award and was selected as a Fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing in 2018. Bachmeier is retired from the US Army National Guard with 29 years of service.
