Carol Scott

Carol F. Scott is a trauma expert who has been studying trauma and trauma-informed approaches for more than ten years. Scott's research is at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and social work, and she studies the lived experiences of various groups (e.g., teen social media users who experience mental health concerns and those involved in the criminal justice system).

She has helped numerous scholars, students, and practitioners learn about and apply trauma-informed approaches. She has also taught hundreds of students about human behavior and theories, research methodologies, and program evaluation. Most recently, Scott has been working with tech designers and user experience researchers, helping them become trauma-informed.

Scott has a Ph.D. in Social Welfare, a Master of Social Work (M.S.W), a Bachelor of Arts in Experimental Psychology, and an Associate's degree in Police Foundations. She also has four years of postdoctoral training in HCI, social computing, and health informatics, and certification in DEI research and leadership.
