Glenn Barnes
DNP, RN, EMT-P, NHDP-BC, FWEM, FAWM

Glenn Barnes combines over 35 years of nursing experience with 28 years of military and civilian overseas contracting. Barnes is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing and the Program Coordinator for the upcoming Extreme Environment Nursing Program. His background as a former U.S. Army Green Beret, an Army and Navy Nurse Corps Officer, and dual Fellowed in Wilderness Medicine made him an ideal candidate for this position. He has worked overseas as a tactical medic, and diplomatic security specialist. As the Senior Nurse Mentor for the Ministry of Interior of Afghanistan, Barnes was instrumental in the establishment of the first BSN program in Afghanistan as well as developing the Standards and Practices for that country. Barnes continues his advancement in nursing by creating the first wilderness training program in the U.S. and second in the world. Barnes is an international speaker, educator, author, and mentor. He now strives to secure a place for nursing in any environment on the planet, and to have Texas A&M be the first College of Nursing to create nurses specifically trained to provide care in space.
