Author, Lived Experience Expert in Human Trafficking

Heather Maravilla is the Regional Coordinator for Indiana’s Trafficking Victim Assistance Program in Indianapolis, Indiana. She covers multiple counties providing human trafficking trainings to law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, hospital SART teams, DCS, schools and therapists. Maravilla is a lived expert in sex trafficking. She has worked in the anti-trafficking field for seven years in a variety of roles. She has worked on anti-trafficking teams in Tallahassee, Florida with Children’s Home Society and Voices for Florida. She has worked as a case manager providing wrap-around services to women in the sex industry in Indianapolis. Maravilla is an author, speaker and spoken word artist. She writes under the pen name Heather Heartflo. Her first poetry book, Love’s Redeemed Daughter the Reflections of Nyla, has sold more than 5,000 copies. She has a curriculum called "Words Have Wings" that uses poetry and journaling as a tool, helping victims process trauma.
