Burgess to Keynote AFN National

The Academy of Forensic Nursing is pleased to announce that the keynote speaker for the AFN National Conference, to be held virtually November 2-3, is Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess, author of A Killer by Design: Murders, Mindhunters, and My Quest to Decipher the Criminal Mind.

Burgess is an internationally recognized pioneer in the assessment and treatment of victims of trauma and abuse, and has been designated as a “Living Legend” by the American Academy of Nursing, the academy’s highest honor. Over the course of her career, she co-founded one of the first hospital-based crisis counseling programs at Boston City Hospital, and worked with FBI Academy special agents to study serial offenders. Currently, she is working on studying elder abuse in nursing homes, cyberstalking, and internet sex crimes.

Her keynote will cap two days of learning at the second AFN National Conference. Attendees will join the livestream of the conference from 10 am – 5 pm ET daily to explore evidence-based forensic nursing practice, techniques, and research. The conference is open to healthcare professionals, law enforcement professionals, attorneys, court and judiciary staff, and victim advocates.

Standard pricing for the two-day event is $225 for AFN members. Non-members can register for $350 and will also receive a free one-year membership to AFN. Single-day pricing is also available.
