Patricia M. Speck

Patricia M. Speck, Professor Emeritus at UAB School of Nursing, is an internationally recognized leader in forensic nursing, known for advancing the specialty through four decades of work in education, research, and policy. Her research and advocacy have shaped core competencies, influenced primary care, and reformed policy for victims of violence, including child abuse and human trafficking. She has held key leadership roles in major forensic nursing organizations, earned multiple fellowships, and continues to mentor globally and guide academic best practices. Speck earned her BSN, MSN, and DNSc from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
