
Deanna Squires
BSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P

Deanna Squires has been a dedicated forensic nurse since 2013, holding certifications in both Adult/Adolescent (SANE-A) and Pediatric (SANE-P) sexual assault nursing. She also holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency Validation in Non-Fatal Strangulation Examination. From 2018 to 2019, Squires developed and launched the forensic nursing program at Gila River Health Care (GRHC), where she served as the SANE/Forensic Nurse Coordinator. In that role, she successfully built a comprehensive forensic services team, hiring seven PRN nurses, two full-time RNs, and a medical director. Under her leadership, the program expanded to offer the full scope of forensic nursing services. Squires has provided extensive training for law enforcement, forensic nurses, and has precepted numerous nurses to full clinical competency. She has presented at professional conferences and is recognized for her expertise in forensic nursing. She is also experienced in preparing Sexual Maturity Ratings (SMRs) and Unsafe House Reports. Currently, she works full-time at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southern Arizona in Tucson. In addition, she serves as a guest SANE trainer under the University of Arizona’s ANE-SANE HRSA grant, providing education and clinical skills training to new sexual assault nurse examiners.
