Leah Helmbrecht

Leah Helmbrecht has been a nurse since 2009, working in a variety of specialties. Currently, she works at Denver Health as a SANE/FNE and admission/discharge RN. She discovered her passion in forensic nursing in 2021 after receiving multiple nurse advice line calls from victims who were scared to go to the ER due to COVID-19. Respectively, Helmrecht initiated and implemented the National Protocol for the Sexual Assault Guidelines for nurse advice line protocols and charting. She has provided hospital-wide training regarding human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, and child brides. She has also raised money to stock cell phones for DV survivors and initiated the placement of human trafficking/DV resources in the bathrooms across Denver Health.
