
Annette Cannon
PhD, MA, RN, MSN, D-ABMDI, DF-AFN

Dr. Annette Cannon is an RN with more than 25 years of forensics experience and currently serves as a re-elected county coroner for the last 6 1/2 years. She holds a PhD in Healthcare Administration with a focus on the mentally ill in the criminal justice system, Masters in Nursing, and Organizational Management. Her credentials include D-ABMDI, CDI, and DF-AFN. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings and serves on various appointments, boards and committees in a leadership role. In addition, she also works as a death investigator, and oversees all staff, office personnel, contracted personnel, investigations, autopsy suite, vehicle fleet, and the morgue. One goal is to expand all areas of forensic nursing throughout learning institutions and in the nursing community. She has served as the Chair of the AFN SIG Death Investigation committee since January 2021. She enjoys spending time with her family.
