The Academy of Forensic Nursing's Education Committee invites you to join your AFN colleagues for two dynamic days of learning, collaboration, and connection at AFN Regional Conference: Northwest forensic nursing conference. This event features a diverse lineup of presentations focused on the complex issues impacting forensic healthcare in the Pacific Northwest. From clinical case reviews to emerging trends and regional challenges, attendees will gain valuable insights, practical tools, and opportunities to strengthen their professional network within the forensic nursing community.

Details:
This intensive, skills-based training is designed to enhance the clinical knowledge and practical competencies of healthcare professionals in the identification, assessment, documentation, and treatment of patients who have experienced non-fatal strangulation. Participants will learn evidence-based approaches for medical evaluation, forensic documentation, and multidisciplinary collaboration, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed care and patient-centered practice.
The course includes didactic content, hands-on simulation, and case-based scenarios to build clinical confidence in recognizing the subtle signs of strangulation and supporting appropriate medical and legal interventions.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Accurately identify physical and neurological signs and symptoms associated with non-fatal strangulation.

Perform a focused clinical assessment, including appropriate imaging and documentation techniques.

Apply trauma-informed approaches when caring for patients reporting strangulation.
This session is a must for clinicians seeking to improve outcomes for survivors of strangulation.

IN PERSON - If you need to cancel your in-person registration, please do so before August 9, 2025 to receive a 50% discount. After August 9, 2025, no refunds will be available. You may transfer your registration to another person to attend the same event in your place at any time. Transfers cannot be applied to a future AFN event.
